Energy sources:the challenge mankind has to face

The project

“We learn what we live”, said Dewey and the students learnt what they lived projecting and installing a photovoltaic plant on the sunroof of our school. Photovoltaic is a crucial theme, especially in the current era, full of challenges posed by different factors such as the enlargement of EU, globalization, environmental problems.
In the experience, cooperative learning approach was used given each student within the group a role to play throughout the project. The class worked in groups of 3 or 4 students. Each group focused on a topic, first looking for and selecting materials and documents from the Internet, then preparing the texts and choosing pictures. Most of the work was done at home and at school in the lab as reguard the editing, the uploading of images and the recording of the texts.
The lessons and the project about photovoltaic plant were done at school in the afternoon under the supervision of the Impianti teacher and the English one.
In each step they were supported by the English teacher who helped them with the written passages and the general plan of the multimedia narrative.
Even though the project has been conceived by the English teacher in order to improve the students’ communicative skills, it has also involved the L1 teacher (mother tongue) in the studying of many specific texts for the photovoltaic plant.
