This work highlights aspects in our town – its places, the people who live/lived here, its events, its traditions – that a typical guided tour for tourists would not elicit. It leaves apart the most attractive and well-known buildings and monuments to shed light on what is peculiar or curious and what people in Trieste are proud of. Through a description of events, habits and ritual actions and through a narration of writers and poets who work or worked in our town we hope to bring into life what our local culture and ways of living depend on.
