THE PROPOSAL
The project stems from these suggestions:

Wine is one of the most celebrated and appreciated commodities around the world; could we show how wine offers a window onto culture of Mediterranean countries?
Or how wine became culture in Mediterranean countries?

In particular, the research should deal with the following topics:

1) What is the culture of wine with reference to the specific context of each nation;

2) The presence of wine in the Near East: an outline of Gilgamesh;

3) Homer;

4) The myth of wine in the Roman world;

5) The Great Code of the Old Testament: Genesis 9: Noah discovers wine;

6) Wine in Jewish culture;

7) Wine in the New Testament;

8) Wine becomes another reality;

9) What remains today of the symbols and rituals of the ancient.

Each school has to choose some routes and by January they will present the outcome of their research through a multimedia tool (posters, slides, videos).
The overall objective is what we will write about, i.e. a digital story that summarizes the various contributions and that can participate in the "International PoliCultura" competition (to EXPO 2015).

SPACES, TIME, TOOLS

SPACES
During the year students will work together in international groups on different parts of the project. They will use modern ICT communication including email, web cam links and video conferencing. Different software skills will be practised for communication, documentation, presentation, design, PIC-programming. Language development for students and teachers will be central goals in this project. The communication language in the project will be English. Presentations and papers will need both technical and communication phrases.
Academic work is going to be in respective schools using ETWINNING PLATFORM as a communication tool so that the interaction among students is possible.
We could also use skype.

TOOLS
We are going to use different teaching methods and instruments and each school has to do, by the end of January, the first part of their research through multimedia tools of choice (posters, slides, videos and so on)

TIME
Since February the contributions will be collected and summarized in the digital story that will participate in the competition "Policultura international" in view of Expo 2015.
The end of the project is scheduled for June 2014 (until then it will be possible to collect the material that is going to be published in an ebook or at an exhibition).

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

The general objectives that will guide the entire work will be primarily disciplinary, according to the contents prescribed by the National Guidelines of the Ministry of Education and University Research, favouring the methodology of collaborative learning in the classroom. The entire project has also been inspired to the intention of promoting knowledge and cooperation among teachers around Europe.
We would also like to promote the processes of educational innovation through new technologies, to be used as a means to promote culture by improving the digital skills of the students. A final goal of the work will be the promotion of partnerships between schools and external agencies, such as Universities, museums and so on.

EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS EXPECTED:

Educational benefits expected reflect several goals: first, the ability to use the language in depth (research, reading, comprehension, analysis, storage, writing, synthesis, reformulation, intuition, communication in a foreign language) and the ability to use the language in a transversal way. It is also expected to improve the students’ ability to work independently and to work in cooperation with peers. Furthermore, among the educational benefits expected we also consider:

COGNITIVE BENEFITS:

Promote the acquisition of basic skills such as abstraction, synthesis, communication in English.

SOCIO-RELATIONAL LEARNING:

A working methodology that permits collaboration between partners in the classroom and on the net.

MOTIVATIONAL BENEFITS:

Sustain the interest and participation to disciplines, to a topic and, more generally, to school activities.

PEDAGOGICAL VALUE

It’s not easy as teachers to work with other classes, more difficult it is working with other countries (connection, coordination, language, misunderstanding and so on) but at the end we can say that cooperation can be very satisfactory when we have a common aim, task, interests and when we can communicate and work as a team. Our pupils are very active and happy partners as well. For school, this task brought new ideas and more teachers understood the value of EU projects. For me personally, it was a great experience comunicating with different partners at once. Though we are from different cultures, but our aim was the same and we were happy about the results. We all got lots of experience in EU projects and when you start, you will never stop.
